Newberry Springs

Newberry Springs is most notably home to the Bagdad Café. Some history to follow here: there was a town called Bagdad about 60 miles back on Route 66, but it became a ghost town with virtually no trace left.

It held the original Bagdad Café, which was the setting for parts of the 1988 movie "Bagdad Café." It was actually filmed here in Newberry Springs, when this place was called the Sidewinder Café, originally having opened in the 1950s. In 1995, they changed the name to Bagdad Café and have been beckoning Route 66 travelers with the new name ever since.

Shortly after the Bagdad Café, Route 66 meets up with Interstate 40 again. Follow it west to Daggett and Barstow.
