The second settlement along Route 66 in Kansas is unincorporated Riverton, a small, but historic locale in the eastern part of the state. One such historic site is Eisler Brothers Old Riverton Store. Stop in for deli sandwiches, Route 66 souvenirs, and even some pink flamingos.
On your way out of Riverton, be sure to take a peek at the famous Rainbow Bridge, a marsh arch bridge and the only surviving bridge of its kind along Route 66. The current road provides a nice side view of the bridge, and you can swing around and drive over the Rainbow Bridge, too.
Trivia: In 2000, country singer Brad Paisley performed the song Route 66 on the bridge for the special "Route 66: Main Street America", which aired on the TLC Network.
