Your guide for Route 66 travel information, attractions, planning and hotel accommodations.

Pick a State or City to explore

A small but classic town along Route 66, Wilmington is known as The Island City thanks to a beautiful park set on the Kankakee River. Wilmington is also a participant of the annual Illinois Rt. 66 Red Carpet Corridor Festival.

Route 66 leads Illinois travelers right through Historic Downtown Wilmington – home to plenty of antique shops and lunch spots. Downtown Wilmington also hosts a ton of fun and welcoming events, including the annual Catfish Day and the Water Street Flea Market, and holiday events like Bewitched on 66 and Holidays Downtown.

As for kitsch, check out the iconic Gemini Giant roadside attraction – ideal for family photos. And if there's a Steve Martin or John Candy fan amongst you, know you're driving through one of the filming sites of Planes, Trains & Automobiles.
