Not too much further west from Cicero, the city of Berwyn is a staple of Illinois cities along Route 66. Why? A slew of attractions along Ogden Avenue – otherwise known as Berwyn’s own slice of the Mother Road.
The Chicago suburb of Berwyn celebrates its history with US Route 66 at the Berwyn Route 66 Museum, and the annual, and much anticipated, Berwyn Rte 66 Car Show.
B-town also commemorates its stretch of Route 66 with the Route 66 Informational Kiosk, Historic Route 66 Scenic Byway Wayside Exhibits, and Ogden Top & Trim. Hungry for some local vibe and food? Check out Cigars & Stripes BBQ, Paisans Pizzeria & Bar, and even the oldest White Castle on Route 66.
Berwyn was also home to the famed Spindle, that 50-foot needle-looking thing with about eight cars pierced over it. You might recognize it from Wayne's World. Sadly, the sculpture and iconic roadside attraction was disassembled in 2008.
